Pirates Unveil PNC Park Legacy Hall
The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the opening of Legacy Hall, a new event and meeting space showcasing the largest display of Pirates memorabilia at PNC Park.
Legacy Hall is a multi-use space located next to the Left Field Entrance along Federal Street at the Willie Stargell statue in the area that once served as the Pirates Team Store. The space will now be available for family events, corporate meetings, networking events, and more, with capacity up to 150 guests. The hall also will be open to all ticketed fans each game day and accessible once inside the ballpark, provided the space is not reserved for a private event. Additionally, it will serve as the new starting point for PNC Park’s popular ballpark tours.
The unique area features a wonderful collection of Pirates memorabilia, many items never previously displayed at the ballpark. The collection includes historical items from the Pirates, in addition to loaned pieces from Denny Heindl, a Ridgway (PA) resident and limited partner of the Pirates since 1997 who has one of the largest collections of sports memorabilia in the area, and Stephen Wong, a prominent baseball memorabilia collector and historian with a focus on 19th and early 20th century items.
“We are excited to open a new space that will house and highlight many artifacts and select artwork from our organization’s rich history. Legacy Hall is not just an area to showcase memorabilia; it is also one of the more unique event and meeting spaces in the city, and we look forward to seeing its many uses,” said Pirates President Travis Williams. “We want to thank Denny Heindl and Stephen Wong for loaning items from their personal collections, items that have a deep and special meaning to Pirates history and our fans. We believe this display will be another fun stop for fans visiting PNC Park.”
Legacy Hall is an event space that can be tailored to fit any occasion. Whether hosting a meeting and presentation, a cocktail reception, or an intimate seated dinner, the venue offers the flexibility to bring any occasion to life. Guests can gather around two large-screen televisions ideal for group presentations, enjoy an open and welcoming layout for social events, or dine among a remarkable collection of Pirates history.
Surrounded by legendary artifacts and timeless stories, every event in Legacy Hall is elevated by an atmosphere that inspires unique dinner conversations.
Highlights of the space include a tribute to Honus Wagner and Ralph Kiner, game-worn uniforms from the two Pirate legends, and a letter written to Wagner in 1954 from President Dwight D. Eisenhower, among other items. Original lockers from Three Rivers Stadium used by Willie Stargell and Roberto Clemente house artifacts from those two Hall of Fame players, while a locker from PNC Park showcases items collected from various players over the last 25 years.
Other items include the final out ball from Game Six of the 1909 World Series, Kiki Cuyler’s bat from 1925, and a ball signed by Paul and Lloyd Waner. There is also a banner from the 1960 World Series with autographs from the Pirates and Yankees, a turnstile and seat from Forbes Field and Three Rivers Stadium, and home plate from the first season at PNC Park. A historic timeline highlights one of the walls inside Legacy Hall, along with display cases showcasing Pittsburgh’s championship seasons and ballparks.
These are just a sampling of the many items guests can browse before each Pirates home game or during their planned events at PNC Park’s new Legacy Hall.
