2026 "Breakthrough Series" begins with Baseball Development Event hosted June 6-8
WHAT: Seventy-nine elite-level high school-aged baseball players from across the nation will receive a top-tier baseball development experience from Saturday, June 6-Monday, June 8 at the ‘Breakthrough Series’ at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. The Breakthrough Series was established in 2008 and is a joint effort on behalf of Major League Baseball and USA Baseball, focusing on developing players on and off the field through seminars, mentorship, gameplay, scout evaluations, and more.

Participants were selected by Major League Baseball and will receive instruction from a collection of former MLB coaches and players, including two-time All-Star Marquis Grissom, longtime New York Yankees bullpen coach Mike Harkey, 15-year MLB veteran Howie Kendrick, 1997 World Series Champion coach and 2000 AL Manager of the Year Jerry Manuel and more. In total, the staff combines for over 100 seasons of both MLB coaching and playing experience.
The roster includes 61 players with previous experience at MLB Develops events, including 16 players who are returning to the Breakthrough Series after participating in prior iterations of the event. Fifty-one athletes on the 2026 Breakthrough Series roster have participated in the Hank Aaron Invitational, while 42 competed at DREAM Series and 37 have participated in MLB’s ID Tour.
Since its inception in 2008, the Breakthrough Series has produced numerous MLB players. Seventeen current big leaguers participated in the Breakthrough Series during their amateur playing careers, including Taj Bradley, Justin Crawford, Michael Harris II, Nasim Nuñez, and Carlos Rodón. Additionally, over 50 current Minor League Baseball players and over 100 college baseball players previously participated in the Breakthrough Series.
