Aristides Aquino named NL Player of the Month and Alex Bregman named AL Player of the Month

After beginning his Major League career in historic fashion, outfielder Aristides Aquino of the Cincinnati Reds has been voted both National League Player of the Month and National League Rookie of the Month for August. All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros has been named the American League Player of the Month.

Aquino earned his first career monthly awards and is the first Reds Player of the Month winner since Scooter Gennett last season in May. Additionally, he is the first Major Leaguer since Aaron Judge accomplished the feat twice during his AL Rookie of the Year Award-winning 2017 campaign to be named Player and Rookie of the Month in the same period. Aristides became the first NL player since former Red Yasiel Puig did so for the Los Angeles Dodgers in June 2013. Bregman was awarded his second career AL Player of the Month Award, previously winning in June 2018, and is the second straight Astros winner, following his teammate Yuli Gurriel. It marks the first time since Bryce Harper (April) and Daniel Murphy (May) of the Washington Nationals in 2016 that different players from the same Club earned consecutive Player of the Month Awards. Albert Pujols (June) and Mike Trout (July) of the Los Angeles Angels last accomplished the feat in the AL during the 2015 campaign.
