Arizona Fall League announces Week One NFP Pitcher and Hitter of the Week
PHOENIX – The Arizona Fall League has announced its NFP Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for games from Oct. 6-12.
Hitter of the Week: Mesa Solar Sox C Owen Ayers (CHC)
Chicago’s Owen Ayers posted a slash line of .455/.538/.909 during the first week of AFL action. Ayers went 5-for-11 with a pair of doubles, a home run, and four runs driven in at the plate. His 10 total bases lead the league, while he is tied for second in hits and doubles. Ayers hit the go-ahead, two-run double in a five-run ninth inning for the Solar Sox on Thursday.
Pitcher of the Week: Peoria Javelinas LHP Luis De León (BAL)
Baltimore’s Luis De León dazzled in his Fall League debut, striking out seven. Across four innings, he allowed one hit and one unearned run. His total innings pitched and strikeouts are both tied for the league lead. De León, MLB Pipeline’s No. 21 Orioles prospect, completed a pair of 1-2-3 innings and struck out the final four batters he faced. The southpaw topped out at 98.5 mph.

The 33rd season of the Arizona Fall League is underway. Regarded as the premier league for baseball’s top prospects, the Arizona Fall League continues to develop top-caliber talent across all 30 MLB Clubs. AFL games will be held at six Cactus League ballparks throughout the 2025 season - Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Sloan Park, Scottsdale Stadium and Surprise Stadium. The 19th annual Fall Stars Game (Sunday, Nov. 9) will be played at Sloan Park, and the AFL Championship Game (Saturday, Nov. 15) will be played at Salt River Fields, both being televised on MLB Network.
