Blue Jays look to clinch a playoff berth at home this week as they close out regular season
With October baseball around the corner, the Blue Jays are in a heated sprint to clinch a postseason berth at home this week. The final homestand of the season starts tonight with a three game match-up against the New York Yankees (September 26 to 28, all 7:07 p.m.), before closing out the regular season with a weekend series against the Wild Card-leading Tampa Bay Rays (September 29 to October 1).
Currently holding the second Wild Card position, the Blue Jays will have postseason tickets for the Division Series go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. ET (bluejays.com/postseason). Though the regular season is coming to a close, Blue Jays special events and promotions are not yet finished! Here’s what’s on at the ballpark this week:
Tonight is the season finale of Loonie Dogs Night presented by Schneiders and fans have one last chance to break the single-game hot dog record of 76,627 set on August 29. There have been an impressive 627,077 Loonie Dogs eaten at Rogers Centre this season – put those hot dogs in a straight line and it would stretch from Toronto to Niagara Falls! Come out to the ballpark to help us reach the 80,000-mark for the first time!
The final series is dedicated to the best fans in baseball as the Blue Jays celebrate Fan Appreciation Weekend presented by TD. The weekend features fun games, activities, face painters, airbrush artists, and chances for fans of all ages to win premium prizes around the ballpark. Beginning Friday, Sept. 29 (7:07 p.m.), the first 15,000 fans receive a Blue Jays Hoodie giveaway presented by TD (image here). The final game of the regular season takes place on Sunday, Oct. 1 with a 3:07 p.m. first pitch.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Blue Jays join Canada in recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, honouring the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Additional details to be shared later this week.
