Chicago Cubs hire Jennifer Martindale as senior vice president of marketing

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced the hiring of Jennifer Martindale as senior vice president of marketing. In this role, Martindale will oversee club initiatives including branding, advertising and promotions.

Martindale joins the club from the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans where she previously served as vice president of brand strategy, overseeing the marketing and game experience verticals for both teams as well as the G League affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama. In her role, Martindale was responsible for brand management, consumer insights, performance marketing, fan engagement and events, creative studio and in-game entertainment. Under her leadership, the Saints were the top-ranked NFL team in fan experience in 2019.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jen to the Cubs organization as senior vice president of marketing,” said Cubs Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Colin Faulkner. “Not only does Jen have a proven track record of being an outstanding leader and brand marketer, but she also embodies our core values of inclusiveness and teamwork, making her a perfect fit for our organization.”

Prior to her role with the Saints and Pelicans, Martindale was Chief Marketing Officer for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco from 2014-18 where she developed strategic plans that increased ticket sales, memberships, venue rentals and corporate sponsorships for the iconic museum and performing arts center. Before entering the nonprofit sector, Martindale spent 14 years in advertising where she drove brand strategy and led award-winning campaigns for notable brands such as Kellogg’s, Cadillac, PetSmart and the U.S. Army.

Martindale holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Michigan State University and will be relocating to Chicago with her family.
