Dodgers sign Danny Duffy

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy for the 2022 season with a club option for 2023. To make room for Duffy on the 40-man roster, the club placed right-handed pitcher Jimmy Nelson on the 60-day injured list.

Duffy, 33, appeared in 13 games (12 starts) for Kansas City last season, going 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA (17 ER/61.0 IP) and 65 strikeouts. He was traded to the Dodgers on July 29 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zach Willeman and missed the rest of the season with a left flexor strain. The California native spent 11 seasons with the Royals, posting a 68-68 record with a 3.95 ERA (514 ER/1172.1 IP) and 1,048 strikeouts. In 2016, he went a career-best 12-3 with a 3.51 ERA (70 ER/79.2 IP) and 188 strikeouts in 42 games (26 starts).

He was originally drafted in the third round of the 2007 First Year Player Draft out of Cabrillo High School.
