Oakland A's Community Fund 2023 grant applications now open

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s Community Fund is now accepting applications for their 2023 Grant Program. The annual grant program distributes funds to organizations that support the greater Bay Area community. The A’s are also accepting applications for the recently renamed Kyle Ellington Social Justice Grant, which disseminates funds to organizations that are committed to uplifting the Bay Area through systemic change, advocacy, policy reform, and innovative direct service programs for underserved communities. Organizations can apply for a 2023 grant at athletics.com/donations.

Grants range between $2,500 and $10,000 and may also be provided in the form of in-kind contributions. All organizations are encouraged to apply, but priority is given to East Bay organizations that focus on the health and vitality of the local community, educational initiatives and programs, and youth sports support. The deadline to apply for a grant is July 31.

The A’s recently renamed their social justice grant as part of a three-part legacy program in honor of Kyle Ellington, the organization’s late Director of Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging. The A’s are honoring Ellington with a three-year scholarship at his alma mater, the University of Georgia; an Impact Award given annually to a member of the A’s front office; and renaming the Oakland A’s Community Fund’s social justice grant in his memory. Ellington, who joined the A’s in February 2021, passed away on Jan. 21, 2023.
