Oakland A’s to celebrate Oakland culture and community during 510 Weekend

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s will celebrate Oakland’s culture and community during 510 Weekend, May 7 to 9, during a three-game series at the Coliseum versus the Tampa Bay Rays. The weekend-long celebration comes ahead of 510 Day, the unofficial May 10 holiday – a nod to the 510 area code – that celebrates the unique culture, history, and art of Oakland. The weekend will include an Oakland hat giveaway, donations to local community organizations, and more.

510 WEEKEND DONATIONS: The Oakland A’s Community Fund will donate $2,500 each to five organizations in the Oakland community:

TEACHER APPRECIATION NIGHT: The A’s will cap off Teacher Appreciation Week, presented by Ross Dress for Less, with Teacher Appreciation Night at the Coliseum on Friday, May 7.

A’s HAT GIVEAWAY: Early arriving fans will receive an Oakland A’s hat, presented by Comerica Bank, on Saturday, May 8.

OAKLAND CHAMBER DONATION DRIVE: The Oakland Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Oakland Class of 2021 is hosting a hygiene kit donation drive at the Coliseum on Saturday, May 8. Fans are encouraged to bring items such as shampoo, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, and other personal hygiene items to donate. Donation bins will be located at all fan entrance gates.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY: On Sunday, May 9, Jen Gregovich will represent the A’s as the team’s “Honorary Bat Girl,” a league-wide initiative commemorated each Mother’s Day to highlight extraordinary efforts to support the fight against breast cancer. The stories for each Club’s Honorary Bat Girl can be found on mlb.com/HonoraryBatGirl. During the 1:07 p.m. game versus the Rays, players will swing pink bats and sport pink wristbands in commemoration of the “Going To Bat Against Breast Cancer” initiative, which raises awareness and funds to support efforts to address breast cancer. Players will also wear specially designed pink New Era caps, and Club uniforms will feature the MLB breast cancer awareness logo, adorned with the symbolic pink ribbon, on the left chest.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Local A’s fan Melody Roberts will sing the national anthem ahead of the game on Saturday, May 8; Stacey Bellone, a breast cancer survivor, will perform on Sunday, May 9.

A’s GIVE-A-THON: Fans who make a donation to the Oakland A’s Community Fund will receive two Plaza Level ticket vouchers and a limited edition gift, including an A’s mask T-shirt, autographed baseball, autographed jersey, or virtual meet and greet, based on donation level. The A’s Give-A-Thon ends on Sunday, May 9. Donate at athletics.com/give.
