Ballpark Buzz for Phillies vs. Red Sox weekend series, Sept. 14-15

The Boston Red Sox are in town during the final series of the Phillies homestand starting on Saturday, September 14, to Sunday, September 15. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

1) Before Saturday’s 7:05 p.m. game, children battling pediatric cancer will be honored for their bravery during a special pregame ceremony on #PhilliesGoGold! Nemours Childhood Cancer Awareness Night.

• Be in your seats at 6:30 p.m. for a heartwarming moment as families affected by childhood cancer, along with the doctors and nurses who care for their children, will hold a large yellow ribbon in centerfield. At the same time, several brave children battling pediatric cancer will also be on the field and stand next to players during a Lineup of Courage. In addition, that night’s national anthem and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” will be performed by two childhood cancer survivors.

• The evening also includes a special theme night ticket offer in partnership with Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, in which fans receive a limited-edition Phillie Phanatic Childhood Cancer Awareness Blanket (for the first 2,000 purchasers), as well as a $4 discount off tickets in locations regularly priced $47 and under. Plus, $8 from each theme night ticket purchased will benefit Childhood Cancer research at Nemours Foundation.

2) Also happening Saturday, the top Phillies minor league pitcher and player will be presented with the Paul Owens Awards on-field prior to the game.

• The Phillies will present the 2019 Paul Owens Awards to position player Alec Bohm and left-handed pitcher Ethan Lindow. This award was established in 1986 to honor the top player and pitcher in the minor league system and named in honor of Paul Owens, who spent 48 years in the Phillies organization as a scout, farm director, general manager, manager and senior advisor.

3) There’s a lot happening at Sunday’s 1:05 p.m. game including the Phanatic test driving the grand prize of Toyota’s ‘The Phans That Drive Us’ car giveaway sweepstakes, Phillies Charities Jersey Sale and naturalization ceremony on-field. Plus, all kids 14 and under will receive a W.B. Mason Collectible Truck!

• At 11:00 a.m. on Citizens Bank Way, be on the lookout for the Phanatic and 1993 National League Champion Mickey Morandini, who will be test driving (weather permitting) a 2020 Toyota Corolla, the grand prize of Toyota’s ‘The Phans That Drive Us’ car-giveaway sweepstakes, now underway at phillies.com/phansthatdriveussweeps.
