Rangers Non-Tender Four Players

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club did not tender 2026 contract offers to outfielder Adolis García, catcher Jonah Heim, right-handed pitcher Josh Sborz, and right-handed pitcher Jacob Webb prior to today’s 4:00 p.m. CT deadline. The four players are now free agents. Additionally, the club has agreed to terms with outfielder Sam Haggerty on a one-year contract covering the 2026 season, avoiding arbitration.

Haggerty, 31, batted .253 (41-162) with 2 home runs, team-high 3 triples, 7 doubles, and 13 RBI over 64 games for Texas in 2025, including 35 starts in leftfield (15), centerfield (10), designated hitter (6), and rightfield (4). The switch-hitting outfielder slashed .318/.376/.435/.812 (27-85) against left-handed pitching last season, posting the 15th-highest such batting average in the A.L. (min. 85 AB).

The Rangers tendered contract offers to each of the other 27 eligible players on the roster. With the addition of Haggerty, the club already has seven players under contract for 2026: RHP Jacob deGrom, RHP Nathan Eovaldi, OF Sam Haggerty, C Kyle Higashioka, DH Joc Pederson, SS Corey Seager, 2B Marcus Semien.

The club has four remaining players eligible for salary arbitration in 2026: INF Jake Burger, INF/OF Ezequiel Duran, 3B Josh Jung, INF/OF Josh Smith.

The 32-year-old García batted .227 (115-507) with 19 home runs and 75 RBI in 135 games for Texas in 2025, posting his fifth consecutive season of at least 135 games played. His 745 games since joining the club in 2020 were the most by any Ranger in that span, as the outfielder combined for a .237/.294/.442/.736 slash line with 141 home runs and 458 RBI during his Texas tenure. García also batted .323 with a 1.108 OPS, 8 home runs and playoff-record 22 RBI over 15 postseason contests for the Rangers in 2023, collecting ALCS MVP honors after Texas downed Houston, 4 games-to-3. The Cuba native was acquired by Texas from St. Louis in exchange for cash considerations on December 21, 2019.

Heim, 30, batted .213 with a .602 OPS, 11 home runs, and 43 RBI in 124 games for Texas in 2025, including a team-high 91 starts at catcher. Over five seasons in a Rangers uniform (2021-25), the switch-hitting backstop slashed .226/.282/.374/.657 with 68 home runs and 277 RBI in 595 games. The Buffalo, N.Y. native was originally acquired by Texas from Oakland on February 6, 2021 as part of the trade that sent Elvis Andrus to the Athletics.

Sborz, 31, did not pitch in the Majors in 2025 while recovering from right shoulder surgery. He appeared in four seasons for Texas from 2021-24, logging a 13-12 record, 4.86 ERA (81 ER/150.0 IP), and 11.0 strikeouts per 9.0 innings (184 SO/150.0 IP) during his Rangers tenure. The right-hander allowed one earned run over 12.0 innings of postseason play (0.75 ERA) during Texas’ 2023 World Championship run. Sborz was originally acquired by Texas from Los Angeles-NL on February 16, 2021 in exchange for RHP Jhan Zambrano.

The 32-year-old Webb went 5-4 with one save and a 3.00 ERA (22 ER/66.0 IP) in 55 relief appearances for Texas in 2025, his first season with the Rangers. He ranked T3rd among Texas relievers in strikeouts and 4th in appearances this year. In six Major League seasons with Atlanta (2019-21), Los Angeles-AL (2023), Baltimore (2023-24), and Texas (2025), Webb is 17-14 with 7 saves and a 2.99 ERA (84 ER/253.0 IP) in 247 games exclusively out of the bullpen.
