Rays name Minor League coaching staffs for 2022

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Tampa Bay Rays have named the minor league on-field coaching and medical staffs for the 2022 season. Below are the organizational changes for minor league coordinator roles:

• Hitting coordinator Kyle Wilson, spent last season as hitting coach for Triple-A Durham

• Manager, hitting development Frank Maldonado, spent last season as hitting coach for the FCL Rays

• Pitching strategist Winston Doom, spent last season as assistant director, pitching development

• Complex medical coordinator Joel Smith, spent last season as rehabilitation coordinator

• Assistant strength and conditioning coordinator Paul Jones, spent last season as conditioning coach for the FCL Rays

• Latin America medical administrator Oscar Orengo, spent last season on the DSL development staff

• Latin America strength and conditioning coordinator Cesar Gutierrez, spent last season on the DSL development staff

• Mental performance coordinator Josh Kozuch, spent last season among Rays mental performance coaches

Below are the new hires to the minor league on-field coaching staffs:

• Hitting coach Will Bradley (Triple-A Durham) spent three years in the Angels organization as a hitting coach for High-A Tri-City (2021) and Low-A Burlington (2019-20). Prior to his time with the Angels, he served as a coach at Saint Louis University (2007-18), where he was responsible for hitting and recruiting.

• Hitting coach Paul Rozzelle (High-A Bowling Green) spent eight seasons as the head baseball coach at Catawba Valley Community College from 2014-21.

• Hitting coach Perry Roth (Low-A Charleston) joins the Rays after more than 20 years of coaching at the collegiate level (UAB, Birmingham Southern and Illinois State), most recently as the interim head coach at UAB.

• Hitting coach Hez Randolph (Rookie-level FCL Rays) most recently served as head coach for the Valley Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. His previous stops include assistant coaching positions at Western New England University and his alma mater, the University of New Orleans.
