Overall, the Braves, Dodgers and Phillies will send a Major League-high five players to the Midsummer Classic while a trio of AL East teams – the Blue Jays, Rays and Yankees – will send an AL-high four players to Philadelphia. With their five All-Stars, the Dodgers now have at least five players headed to the All-Star Game for the seventh consecutive time. With Philadelphia’s five All-Stars, it marks the fifth consecutive Midsummer Classic in which the host club has at least three All-Stars.

Detroit’s Kevin McGonigle, who is the youngest player on either roster at 21 years old, is one of four rookies headed to Philadelphia. He is joined by Cincinnati’s Sal Stewart, who at 22 years old is the youngest All-Star on the NL side, and Cleveland’s duo of Travis Bazzana and Parker Messick. McGonigle is the fifth rookie in Tigers history to earn an All-Star nod and the first since Matt Nokes in 1987; Stewart is the seventh rookie in Reds history to make the Midsummer Classic, the first since Scott Williamson in 1999, and the first position player since Chris Sabo in 1988; and Bazzana and Messick are just the fourth and fifth rookies in Cleveland history to appear on an All-Star roster, joining pitcher Herb Score in 1955; pitcher Dick Stigman in 1960; and catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. in 1990. According to Elias, Cleveland becomes just the fifth team in history to send multiple rookies to the All-Star Game together, joining the 1951 White Sox (Jim Busby and Minnie Minoso); the 1960 Orioles (Chuck Estrada, Jim Gentile and Ron Hansen); the 2008 Cubs (Kosuke Fukudome and Geovany Soto); and the 2014 Yankees (Dellin Betances and Masahiro Tanaka).

The quartet of rookie All-Stars are part of a group of 26 players (15 AL, 11 NL) making their first trip to the Midsummer Classic. Elias also notes that this marks the first time in All-Star history that at least four rookies will be sent to the Midsummer Classic three times in a four-year stretch (also four rookies in 2023 and 2024). Additionally, the three rookies on the AL roster are its most since 2014 (José Abreu, Betances and Tanaka).

With the selections of Kurtz in the AL and Baldwin in the NL, this marks the fourth straight All-Star Game to feature at least one reigning Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year, following All-Star nods for Julio Rodríguez in 2023, Gunnar Henderson in 2024 and Paul Skenes in 2025. Elias notes that this will be the ninth Midsummer Classic to feature both reigning Rookie of the Year winners and the first since 2017 (Corey Seager and Michael Fulmer).

The Midsummer Classic rosters feature 21 players age 26-or-younger, including 12 such players on the NL side and nine on the AL squad. In addition, the rosters contain 11 players age 24-or-younger, including seven on the NL roster and four on the AL side.

Trout is the senior-most All-Star with 12 career selections. He is followed by the 37-year-old Sale, the NL’s eldest player, and Freeman (10 each); the 38-year-old Chapman, the game’s eldest player overall, and Harper (nine each); Judge (eight); Guerrero and Ohtani (six); and Soto (five). Freeman was named to the Midsummer Classic for an eighth consecutive time and is followed by Guerrero, Judge and Ohtani (sixth straight each).

There are 22 internationally born players on the All-Star rosters (33.8%), including 12 on the NL roster and 10 on the AL roster. The list features players from Cuba (7); the Dominican Republic (5); Venezuela (4); Canada (2); Japan (2); Australia (1); and Curaçao (1). Bazzana, a native of Hornsby, Australia, becomes just the fourth-ever native of Australia to make the Midsummer Classic, joining Grant Balfour (2013); Liam Hendriks (2019, 2021-22); and Dave Nilsson (1999).
