Twins announce 2021 Spanish language broadcast schedule
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN -- Continuing to bring Minnesota Twins baseball to a diverse audience, the club today announced a fifty-game Spanish language broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2021 season. For the third consecutive year, Twins Spanish language broadcasts will be delivered, live and free of charge, through the home page of Twinsbeisbol.com, along with the Secondary Audio Program (SAP) option on the club’s television partner, Bally Sports North.
The Twins, who in 2006 became the first professional sports team in the Twin Cities market to broadcast their games in Spanish, remain the only local franchise to do so in 2021. The club’s 2021 Spanish language schedule will consist primarily of Sunday and Tuesday games throughout the season, along with special broadcasts for Opening Day (April 1 at 1:10 p.m. CT against the Milwaukee Brewers), the Home Opener at Target Field (April 8 at 3:10 p.m. CT vs the Seattle Mariners) and Diversity Day (July 22nd at 7:10 p.m. CT vs. the Los Angeles Angels).
“For 15 years, we have been proud to provide Spanish language broadcasts of Minnesota Twins baseball – a tradition we are thrilled to continue in 2021 as our team on the field pursues a third straight A.L. Central Division championship,” said club Director of Broadcast Andrew Halverson. “As our organization continues to support an inclusive world, we believe that Twinsbeisbol.com, in partnership with Major League Baseball, has become a wonderful conduit for Twins Spanish language news, stories and our game broadcasts.”
Returning to the broadcast booth for their 16th season together in 2021 are Twins Hall of Famer and analyst Tony Oliva, and play-by-play announcer Alfonso Fernandez. All 50 broadcasts will include 15-minute pre- and post-game shows, which feature exclusive interviews with players from the Twins organization and across the league.
