What's Happening This Week at Phillies-Nationals Series, July 5-7

On Tuesday, July 5, the Phillies will kick off their three-game series against the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park, wrapping up their final games at home for the first half of the season! Here’s a look at all the promotions, theme nights and fun surrounding the games, as well as other know-before-you-go information.

1. The Phillies will host their 13th Jewish Heritage Celebration during Tuesday’s 7:05 p.m. series opener. Highlights include:

• 98-year-old World War II Jewish veteran George Goldberg will be honored as that night’s Rothman Hometown Hero and will change a base at the end of the third inning. Accompanying him will be fellow Jewish veterans.
• Philadelphia native Dan Blacksberg, who is acknowledged as the foremost practitioner of the klezmer trombone, will lead the Dan Blacksberg Duo in performing the national anthem.
• The Phillie Phanatic will dance the hora at the end of the 5th inning.
• To help honor the Jewish community, the event features a $6 discount off the regular price of tickets in select locations.

2. Fans are invited to take part in the inaugural I ❤ Phillies Night presented by the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute at Wednesday’s 7:05 p.m. game! This special theme night will celebrate the life-saving work of the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute, as well as provide awareness on how fans can keep their heart healthy.

• The first 1,000 fans that purchase tickets for this I ❤ Phillies Theme Night will receive a voucher for an I ❤ Phillies T-shirt.
• Joe Hindelang, a heart failure survivor, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
• Dr. Eman Hamad, director for Temple’s Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Program, will be honored as that night’s Rothman Hometown Hero and will change a base at the end of the third inning.

3. Also happening on Wednesday, the Phillies are teaming up with KLYR Rum to recognize military veterans and first responders at every home game with the debut of the ‘KLYR Rum K-Counter of the Game.’ The hero will have the unique experience of operating a new K-Counter in Section 148, which will showcase every strike out thrown by a Phillies pitcher. The ‘KLYR Rum K-Counter of the Game’ will also be recognized for their service every pregame on PhanaVision.

• Former Army Staff Sergeant Nicole Korte, a South Jersey resident, will have the honor of being the first veteran selected for this fun experience. Staff Sergeant Korte served with the 11th Aviation Brigade, 84th Atlantic Training Division, 99th Readiness Division and 9th Battalion 98th Regiment in Ford Dix, NJ, and is currently an active guard reservist recruiter in Cherry Hill, NJ.
• The K-Counter will be located on the field-facing fencing of the KLYR Rum Patio in Section 148, along Ashburn Alley.

4. The first half of the season at home will wrap up with the series finale against the Nationals on Thursday at 4:05 p.m.

• Enjoy a Herr’s Flavored by Philly Chip tasting on the concourse by left field before the first pitch!
• Sergeant First Class Christopher Harris will be recognized as the KLYR Rum K-Counter of the Game and will have the honor of operating the K-Counter in Section 148.
• In addition, Colonel Thomas E. McAvoy will be honored as that night’s Rothman Hometown Hero and will change a base at the end of the third inning.
• Be on the lookout for the Phillie Phanatic in the fifth inning, who will be doing a fun Elton John skit in honor of the Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour coming to Citizens Bank Park on Friday, July 15.

5. Help your favorite Phillies advance during the final vote for the Chevrolet MLB All-Star Balloting, from 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5 until 1:59 p.m. on Friday, July 8. The MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard will be held on Tuesday, July 19, and broadcast on FOX Sports. Vote on phillies.com/allstar and the MLB Ballpark App (iOS and Android devices only).

Other need-to-know information:

• Safety guidelines: In accordance with the City’s safety guidelines, fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks in indoor spaces at the ballpark including the Diamond Club, retail stores, elevators and restrooms. Fans are reminded to bring their own mask if they will be at one of the previously mentioned areas at Citizens Bank Park.
• Parking lots: Parking for Phillies games is cashless. Methods of payment include credit/debit cards and mobile payment (Apple Pay and Google Pay). To expedite entry, pre-paid parking passes may also be purchased prior to the game. Tailgating lots (M, N & O) will open 5 hours prior to first pitch and non-tailgating lots will open 3 hours prior.
• Access Tickets & More: Use the free MLB Ballpark app as your guide to Citizens Bank Park to access tickets, forward to friends, use the interactive concourse maps and enjoy games.
• Gate Openings: All gates open 90 minutes before game time.
• To expedite entry: Guests are prohibited from bringing bags, including backpacks, into the ballpark. Only clutch purses (12”x 12” x 1”), fanny packs, medical bags, clear or solid tote bags and diaper bags will be permitted into Citizens Bank Park.
• Broadcast: All games this series will be broadcast on NBCSP and available via live stream for authenticated subscribers on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s MyTeams app. All games will broadcast on 94 WIP and WTTM 1680.
