White Sox Charities to donate all proceeds from Opening Day Sox Split jackpot to Ukraine emergency response efforts
CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) announced today the Opening Day Sox Split 50/50 raffle, presented by Wintrust, launches with a $50,000 jackpot, and 100 percent of the final proceeds will support UNICEF and World Central Kitchen (WCK) efforts to aid children and families suffering as a result of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Raffle tickets are available now at whitesox.com/soxsplit.
“Sox Split jackpots during the White Sox home opener have historically been among our most successful fundraising initiatives, creating fun opportunities for fans to lend support to those most in need,” explains Christine O’Reilly, CWSC executive director. “White Sox Charities is committed to assisting children and families in crisis, and we know these funds will help both UNICEF and World Central Kitchen to continue their vital work and steadfast emergency response to the extreme hardships in Ukraine.”
The final proceeds from the Sox Split raffle support the organizations’ ability to provide essential resources, such as food, water, health care and protection to millions of people living in Ukraine. UNICEF has been in Ukraine for 25 years — and it is on the ground now, delivering safe water, health and hygiene supplies, blankets, warm clothes and psycho-social care to children and families. Meeting critical and escalating needs, UNICEF has set up Blue Dot Safe Spaces to provide key information to traveling and relocated Ukrainian families and separated children. WCK has expanded its #ChefsForUkraine response to distribute fresh meals to people directly impacted by the crisis in Ukraine and its neighboring countries. The organization also has opened a kitchen and food supply depot in Poland and has found new way ways to support more restaurants in Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv and Kyiv.
Sales for the Sox Split $50,000 guaranteed jackpot remain open until the end of the 7th inning of the White Sox home opener on Tuesday, April 12 vs. Seattle at whitesox.com/soxsplit. Online sales are exclusive to Illinois residents, and the winning ticket for the game will be displayed online and on Twitter at @soxcharities.
