Rangers acquire OF John Andreoli from Seattle Mariners on waiver claim

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has acquired outfielder John Andreoli from the Seattle Mariners in a waiver claim.

Andreoli, 28, was designated for assignment by Seattle on January 10. He combined to bat .230 with no home runs and 4 RBI in 26 games with the Mariners and Orioles in his first major league action last season. He spent the balance of the year at Triple-A Tacoma, batting .287 with a .798 OPS in 89 contests.

Originally selected by the Cubs in the 17th round of the 2011 June draft out of the University of Connecticut, this marks the third time since August that Andreoli has been acquired by a club via waiver claim. He owns a career .270 batting average and .760 OPS figure over 773 minor league games spanning eight seasons.

With the addition of Andreoli, the Rangers now have 39 players on the club's major league roster.
