RED SOX RECALL RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER ZACK KELLY FROM TRIPLE-A WORCESTER

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Zack Kelly from Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the active roster, Boston optioned right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero to Worcester following yesterday’s doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles.

Guerrero, 24, tossed 1.1 innings in Game Two yesterday. The right-hander has pitched in four games for Boston this season, allowing one run in 5.1 innings with four strikeouts. Selected by the Red Sox in the 17^th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Dominican Republic native has also made 13 appearances for Worcester, recording a 4.91 ERA (10 ER/18.1 IP).

Kelly, 30, has made seven appearances this season, recording a 9.00 ERA (10 ER/10.0 IP) with 11 strikeouts. The right-hander also owns a 9.28 ERA (11 ER/10.2 IP) with 15 strikeouts in nine games (one start) for Worcester. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Oakland Athletics in 2017, the Virginia native owns a 4.52 ERA (45 ER/89.2 IP) with 89 strikeouts in 77 career Major League games (three starts), all with Boston (2022-25).
