RED SOX RECALL RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER ZACK KELLY FROM TRIPLE-A WORCESTER

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Zack Kelly from Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the active roster, Boston optioned right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero to Worcester following yesterday’s doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles.

Guerrero, 24, tossed 1.1 innings in Game Two yesterday. The right-hander has pitched in four games for Boston this season, allowing one run in 5.1 innings with four strikeouts. Selected by the Red Sox in the 17th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Dominican Republic native has also made 13 appearances for Worcester, recording a 4.91 ERA (10 ER/18.1 IP).

Kelly, 30, has made seven appearances this season, recording a 9.00 ERA (10 ER/10.0 IP) with 11 strikeouts. The right-hander also owns a 9.28 ERA (11 ER/10.2 IP) with 15 strikeouts in nine games (one start) for Worcester. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Oakland Athletics in 2017, the Virginia native owns a 4.52 ERA (45 ER/89.2 IP) with 89 strikeouts in 77 career Major League games (three starts), all with Boston (2022-25).
