Red Sox trade infielder Deven Marrero to Diamondbacks

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Boston Red Sox today traded infielder Deven Marrero to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.
Marrero, 27, has spent his entire professional career with the Red Sox since being selected by the club in the first round (24th overall) of the 2012 June Draft. He appeared in 109 major league games from 2015-17, making 50 starts at third base, nine at second base, and five at shortstop. In 2017, the right-handed hitter played in a career-best 71 major league games, batting .211 (36-for-171) with four home runs and 27 RBI. Marrero has played in 534 minor league games, earning Boston's Minor League Base Stealer of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
