Phillies’ Dan Baker & Phillie Phanatic to Kick Off Sunday’s For Pete’s Sake, Walk! as 1,500+ Cancer Patients Take a Break from Cancer at Citizens Bank Park
Philadelphia, PA – On Sunday, May 1, 2022, For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation will host its 11th Annual For Pete’s Sake, Walk! at Citizens Bank Park. This year, the event theme is “Let’s Glow” and participants will receive special glow items to illuminate the way as they walk around the concourse and onto the field.

For Pete’s Sake, Walk!
This fun walk benefits For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation. The walk is a three-mile route, consisting of 3 laps around the concourse and a lap around the bases where walkers pose for keepsake photos on the field and in the dugout. Top teams gain access to the locker room and batting cages.
The pre-walk ceremony includes a brief presentation by Marci Schankweiler, FPS Founder & CEO, greetings by Dan Baker, longest-tenured public address announcer in Major League Baseball, and a live rendition of the National Anthem. The ceremony is approximately a half hour and the walk begins at 5:30 PM.
Guests will enjoy a taste of summer! Manco & Manco, new food vendor to Citizens Bank Park, is donating pizzas. Johnson’s Popcorn, Maryanne Pastry Shoppe of SIC, NJ, Herr’s, Coca-Cola and Philly Soft Pretzel Factory are donating snacks and beverages.

For Pete’s Sake (FPS) was established by Marci Bossow Schankweiler in 1999 in memory of her husband, Peter R. Bossow, Jr., whose heroic fifteen-month battle with cancer ended on September 1, 1999.
