Phillies to retire Halladay’s No. 34 on the final day of Toyota Wall of Fame Weekend

On Sunday, August 8, the Phillies will officially retire Roy Halladay’s No. 34, making “Doc” forever immortalized as an all-time Phillies great. Taking part will be Carlos Ruiz, the catcher behind the plate for Roy Halladay's perfect game in 2010 and his no-hitter in that year’s postseason, as well as Hall of Famer Steve Carlton and Doc’s teammates Freddy Galvis, Ryan Howard and Raúl Ibañez. Halladay, who died tragically in November 2017 at the age of 40, amassed numerous accolades in his four seasons with the Phillies (2010-13) and overall in his career:

When: 12:40 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021, prior to the 1:05 p.m. game against the New York Mets

Get ready to witness history, as three extraordinary baseball icons – David Montgomery, Manny Trillo, and Roy Halladay – are honored at Citizens Bank Park during Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame Weekend on August 6-8.

The three-day event will feature special appearances by Phillies baseball greats, including Hall of Famers Steve Carlton and Mike Schmidt, along with Wall of Famers Bob Boone, Larry Bowa, John Kruk, Greg Luzinski, Garry Maddox and Charlie Manuel. Former teammates of Roy Halladay will also be in attendance, including Freddy Galvis, Ryan Howard, Raúl Ibañez, Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Ruiz. *Alumni subject to change.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early for must-see pregame tributes. Festivities will take place throughout the series against the New York Mets, with tickets available at Phillies.com.
