World Champion and Six-Time All-Star Chase Utley to be Inducted into Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame on August 7
The Phillies announced earlier today that former All-Star second baseman Chase Utley, who was an integral part of the 2008 World Series championship team, has been selected as the 2026 Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame inductee, one of the two most prestigious honors bestowed by the organization.
The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, August 7, prior to the 6:45 p.m. game against the Toronto Blue Jays, and will be the leadoff event to Toyota Phillies Alumni Weekend at Citizens Bank Park.
“Chase Utley was a crucial part of one of the two greatest runs in our club’s 143-year history,” said Phillies Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer John Middleton. “A six-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger, No. 26 helped win five straight division titles, two National League pennants and a World Series championship from 2007 to 2011. And now, ‘The Man,’ one of the greatest all-time second basemen of the modern era and certainly Cooperstown worthy, will be forever enshrined as the 51st inductee in our prestigious Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame.”
A first-round draft pick in 2000, Utley spent 13 years with the Phillies and slashed .282/.366/.481 in 1,551 games for the club. In addition to being selected to six All-Star teams (all as a starter) and being a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, he ranks among the franchise’s top 10 all-time list in games, at bats, runs, hits, RBI, doubles, home runs, total bases, extra-base hits, walks and hit by pitches.
Utley also played in 46 career postseason games for the Phillies and hit five home runs alone in the 2009 World Series, tying Reggie Jackson’s then-record for most home runs in a single Fall Classic. His career seven World Series home runs also remain the most by any second baseman.
Following his induction ceremony, Utley will become the third player of the 2008 World Championship team to join the Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame, located in the Left Field Plaza behind the scoreboard building. Click here to see a listing of past Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame inductees.
