DALLAS— The Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy at Mercy Street Sports Complex, presented by Toyota, has been selected as the host site for the 2022 MLB RBI Southwest Baseball and Softball Regional Tournament from July 23-25. This is the second consecutive year the Rangers Youth Academy will host the Major League Baseball event.

Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) is a youth baseball program operated by Major League Baseball, designed to provide young people from underserved and diverse communities the opportunity to play baseball and softball.

The Rangers will host all three divisions for the RBI Southwest Regional Tournament, including 15U Baseball, 18U Baseball and 18U Softball. RBI All-Star teams from across the region will travel to West Dallas to participate in the three-day tournament, including RBI programs from Austin, Houston and New Orleans. 

“Participating in the RBI Regional tournament is the highlight of the summer for many of our athletes and coaches, myself included,” said Juan Leonel Gárciga, senior director of youth baseball & Academy programs. “As the host city, we take pride in giving all the RBI programs in the southwest region a big-league experience and work with MLB to put on a first-class tournament in advance of the RBI World Series in August.”

Teams will compete in pool play on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, with the top two teams in each division advancing to the championship games on Monday, July 25.

Softball games will be held on Kershaw’s Challenge Field and Josh “Hambone” Hamilton Field, with Monday’s championship game played on Hamilton Field. Baseball games will take place on Johnny Oates Field and the Field of Dreams, with both the 15U and 18U championship games played on Oates Field.

All tournament games will be open to the public at no cost, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday through Monday.

Winners from the Southwest Regional Tournament will continue on to the MLB RBI World Series at the Jackie Robinson Sports Complex in Vero Beach from August 4-15.
