After a relatively slow month of May, Leo De Vries has kicked things back in gear in June.

The Athletics' No. 1 prospect swatted his seventh homer of the year in Double-A Midland’s 8-3 loss to Amarillo at HODGETOWN. The long ball extended De Vries' hit streak to six games and pushed his June OPS to .868.

De Vries wasted little time showing off his 55-grade power on Wednesday. In the top of the first, he connected on a first-pitch fastball from right-hander Daniel Eagan (AZ No. 7), and laced it over the wall in left-center field. While the switch-hitting 19-year-old has been a more productive hitter from the right side this season, slashing .333/.433/.509, five of his seven dingers have come when he’s hitting left-handed.

It's also worth noting that De Vries has been incredibly effective when swinging at the first pitch this season with a .438 average and a 1.190 OPS against first-pitch offerings.

In the 13 games played this month, MLB's No. 2 overall prospect has compiled a slash line of .302/.415/.453. But De Vries has flash impressive aspects of his profile beyond the penchant for power, like plate discipline and prowess on the bases.

Over 65 plate appearances in June, De Vries has already worked 11 free passes while striking out 13 times. His previous single-month high this season was 12 in April, and that took him 108 plate appearances to achieve.

On the basepaths, MLB's No. 2 shortstop prospect has remained aggressive, swiping five bags in June to raise his stolen-base total to 21. He's already nearly doubled up on the previous career high of 13 set in 2024.
