How much did Dylan Cease’s original painting sell for?

Dylan Cease is known for his work on the mound, having started the All-Star Game for the American League and being among the leaders in the AL Cy Young race. But for one lucky fan, they’ll know Cease from his artwork.

As part of the Sportsnet Jays Care Broadcast Auction, one of Cease’s original paintings sold for $16,000 on Wednesday to support Jays Care, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto’s ace created a piece that represents the city with a large T in the middle and a stream of color surrounding it.

Cease has painted multiple pieces throughout the season as a passion project to go along with his stellar 2.40 ERA on the mound. Shared to his Instagram page, some works of art include the city at night, a Canada Day tribute and a flower-filled piece that sits in manager John Schneider’s office. Cease will even use his talents for the occasional troll of fans.

Cease’s artwork was the third-highest item sold in the auction, trailing a Rawling Glove Chair for $16,750 and a RUSH Guitar Personalized by Geddy Lee for $24,000. Other sharp items and experiences sold included a golf outing with a Blue Jays Alumnus, a date night on the Rogers Centre outfield grass, a Buck Martinez Memorabilia Package and many more.
