NEW YORK -- Ed Kranepool was at the Mets’ series finale against the Giants on Thursday afternoon, 30 days after receiving a kidney transplant.

“I’m feeling great, and it’s because of the people [who helped me]. I’m not the star of the show,” Kranepool said, speaking alongside his doctor from Stony Brook University Hospital and the woman who was his organ donor.

Kranepool had been looking for a kidney donor since 2017, and the Mets became involved in '18, publicizing the health issues he was dealing with and trying to help him find a match.

“I feel great. I’m ready for a comeback,” Kranepool joked on Thursday. “I told Mickey I can pinch-hit today for him.”

Kranepool debuted for the Mets in 1962 at 17 years old and played for them his entire career, until '79. He plans to attend the team’s anniversary celebration of the '69 Miracle Mets at the end of June.
