Brewers, Misiorowski 1st to reach this mark since Nolan's Angels

Jacob Misiorowski just kept dropping jaws in the first half of the 2026 season. Likely the hardest-throwing starting pitcher we’ve seen, his 1.62 ERA leads all MLB all MLB starters. He also leads the Majors with 167 strikeouts.
Those numbers, of course, are 2/3 of the pitching Triple Crown. Misiorowski’s 10 wins this year aren’t far off the league lead, but they are shy of teammate Aaron Ashby’s 12. Milwaukee’s versatile lefty reliever is making his own history, with eyes on becoming the first primary reliever to lead MLB in wins over a full season.
Together, they gave the Brewers the team Triple Crown at this year’s All-Star break. That hasn’t been done in 49 years.
According to OptaSTATS, Milwaukee is the first team since the 1977 Angels to lead all three Triple Crown categories at the All-Star break. That Angels team did so on the backs of the legendary Nolan Ryan and a dominant Frank Tanana. Ryan led the league in wins and strikeouts at the time, and Tanana led in ERA.
As he did so many times, Ryan finished that year with the MLB lead in strikeouts (341 in 299 innings), but the duo couldn’t hold onto the other two prongs of the Crown. Ryan’s 19 wins fell short of Steve Carlton’s 23, while Tanana’s 2.54 ERA led the American League but was behind Pittsburgh’s John Candelaria with a 2.34 mark.
Cleveland’s Shane Bieber won the Triple Crown in the 60-game 2020 season, but no team or player has taken home the MLB-wide Triple Crown in a full season since 2006. Minnesota’s Johan Santana (2.77 ERA, 19 wins, 245 strikeouts) did so then en route to his second Cy Young Award.
The Brewers, who additionally boast MLB’s second-best record at 59-37, are in good position to do it in 2026. Misiorowski even has a shot to get the Crown on his own, as long as he stays healthy and can catch Ashby in the W column.
