105 mph?!? Flamethrowing Misiorowski thinks he can get there

Every Jacob Misiorowski start has become must-see TV. The Brewers’ ace will be on the mound this afternoon against the Cardinals, so expect to see lots of triple-digit heat and baffled batters.

The Miz, who carries a 1.89 ERA and the best strikeout-minus-walk rate among qualified pitchers (31.3%) into today’s start, has reached 100 mph on the radar gun 254 times this season, by far the most in baseball.

We’ve seen plenty of 101s and 102s from the second-year sensation. A 103 is a little rarer, but not out of the question for Misiorowski. But 105? We haven’t seen that from him … yet.

In a recent guest spot on the On Base Podcast with Mookie Betts, Misiorowski told the Dodgers star that he thinks he could reach that magic number on the gun.

"I think 104-105 mph,” the Miz said when asked how hard he thinks he could throw. "I think I could touch [105]."

We’ve seen 105 mph only 12 times in the Majors during the pitch-tracking era (since 2008, regular season and postseason). Nine of those pitches were thrown by Aroldis Chapman, who has the record with his 105.8 mph pitch for the Reds against the Padres on Sept. 24, 2010. Jordan Hicks reached 105 mph twice as a member of the Cardinals on May 20, 2018, versus the Phillies. Angels reliever Ben Joyce threw a 105.5 mph pitch for a strikeout against the Dodgers on Sept. 3, 2024.

Miz hasn’t gotten to that level yet, but he’s been close. He was clocked at 104 mph twice during Game 2 of the 2025 NLDS versus the Cubs.

The 24-year-old has plenty of time to join the 105 club. But maybe he’ll do it today when he toes the rubber at 2:10 p.m. ET inside American Family Field.
