Stott scratched due to personal matter; Sosa gets start at 3B

PHILADELPHIA -- was scratched from the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Braves approximately an hour before first pitch due to a personal matter.

Stott was initially penciled in to bat seventh and play third base. He was replaced at third by Edmundo Sosa, who had been slated to start in left field. Bryan De La Cruz entered the lineup to bat seventh and play left.

There were no further details immediately available regarding Stott's absence.

Stott has been one of the Phillies' most consistent hitters over the past three months. He hit .287 in June, .287 in July and .284 in August, all while posting a .284/.374/.422 slash line since June 4.
