Nationals to visit White House as WS champions

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have accepted an invitation to visit the White House on Monday, the White House announced Friday morning, a quicker turnaround than usual, to celebrate their World Series championship.

After winning Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday in Houston, the Nationals arrived back in D.C. on Thursday ahead of their championship parade on Saturday. So even though most teams wait until shortly before the following season begins to visit the White House, the Nats will make the trip while much of their team presumably remains in town. President Donald Trump is expected to host the celebratory event on the South Lawn on Monday afternoon.
