Pair of Top 100 prospects lead latest Team of the Week
The 2026 season may not be going as expected for the 20-27 Giants, but down on the farm, the kids are alright.
For the fifth time in six weeks, San Francisco has a player on the Prospect Team of the Week. The Giants have had six different prospects grace the list, with the latest being their crown jewel from the 2025 international class, Josuar Gonzalez.
Several other teams are starting to make frequent appearances on the list, including the Rays and Mariners for the fourth week this year. The Guardians also stand out for having two representatives, including the other Top 100 prospect to make the list, Ralphy Velazquez.
To be eligible for the Pipeline Prospect Team of the Week, Minor League players must be ranked among their club's Top 30 prospects on Pipeline's lists. (Those in the Majors do not qualify.)
This is the Prospect Team of the Week for May 11-17:
C: Malcolm Moore, Hub City Spartanburgers (High-A)
Rangers No. 18
.520/.571/1.160, 5 G, 13-for-25, 4 HR, 4 2B, 10 RBI, 8 R, 3 BB, 3 K
The Rangers' 2024 first-rounder wasn't able to tap into his power in his first full season after a broken hand sidelined him for two months and sapped his power. Now fully healthy, he's showing off his natural left-handed power. The Stanford product picked up multiple hits in all five games this week, four of which featured homers, and capped it all with a career-high four hits. He ranks 11th in the South Atlantic League in OPS (.982), second among catchers.
1B: Ralphy Velazquez, Akron RubberDucks (Double-A)
Guardians No. 3/MLB No. 59
.360/.407/.880, 6 G, 9-for-25, 3 HR, 1 3B, 2 2B, 8 RBI, 6 R, 2 BB, 7 K
Velazquez entered the year as one of the best first-base prospects in the game and is off to his most powerful start yet. The 2023 first-rounder delivered his second multihomer performance of the season on Sunday to cap a week in which he hit safely in every game. The 20-year-old, who previously made the Prospect Team of the Week last August, is on pace to shatter his career high of 22 homers, all while running a lower strikeout rate and higher walk rate.
2B: Josuar Gonzalez, ACL Giants (ROK)
Giants No. 2/MLB No. 31
.571/.700/.929, 4 G, 8-for-14, 1 HR, 2 2B, 9 RBI, 11 R, 6 BB, 3 K, 2 SB
The top hitting prospect in the 2025 international period is off to a roaring start in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League, where he's splitting his time between second and short. Gonzalez had a pair of three-hit games last week, including one in which he scored six runs, drove in four runs and stole a base. There's little question about the 18-year-old's bat, although it bears watching where he fits defensively in a loaded Giants farm system that also includes fellow shortstops Luis Hernández (MLB No. 58), Jhonny Level (MLB No. 64) and Gavin Kilen (SF No. 5).

3B: Luke Hill, Lake County Captains (High-A)
Guardians No. 30
.500/.630/1.250, 6 G, 10-for-20, 4 HR, 3 2B, 11 RBI, 10 R, 7 BB, 7 K
All Hill has done since the Guardians drafted him in the fourth round last July is mash. The Mississippi product posted a .969 OPS in a 15-game cameo at Single-A last year and is now slashing .278/.432/.622 at High-A to start his first full campaign. The 22-year-old posted his first professional four-hit game while going deep twice on Tuesday and then capped the week with two more roundtrippers, which moved him into second in the Midwest League in OPS (1.054).
SS: Jacob Gonzalez, Charlotte Knights (Triple-A)
White Sox No. 24
.476/.542/1.143, 5 G, 10-for-21, 4 HR, 2 2B, 12 RBI, 6 R, 3 BB, 5 K, 1 SB
The 2023 first-rounder is tapping into his offensive potential this season, slashing .306/.423/.638 in his first full season at hitter-friendly Triple-A Charlotte. His 14 home runs in 42 games are almost double his previous career high (eight). Four of those long balls came in the final four games of last series, including one in a four-hit game to end the week. The left-handed hitter has also nearly doubled his walk rate to 15.8 percent, thanks in part to three free pases in the series opener.
OF: Austin Overn, Montgomery Biscuits (Double-A)
Rays No. 26
.524/.600/1.000, 5 G, 11-for-21, 3 HR, 1 2B, 5 RBI, 7 R, 4 BB, 7 K, 6 SB
Overn has used his well-rounded offensive skillset to make the Prospect Team of the Week for the third time in the past 11 iterations. In addition to showing off his 75-grade speed with six more steals -- his 27 on the season are tied for second in the Minors -- he also picked up three homers. Two of them went over the fence, and one of them went into the ground. Yes, on Wednesday, one of his home runs came when the right fielder slid on the ball and lodged it into the turf. The USC product raced around the bases for an inside-the-parker, and it took multiple people to dislodge the ball from the earth.
OF: Raudi Rodriguez, Rocket City Trash Pandas (Double-A)
Angels No. 15
.480/.552/.920, 6 G, 12-for-25, 2 HR, 1 3B, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 10 R, 4 BB, 7 K, 3 SB
The right-handed slugger broke out in a big way in the Arizona Fall League last year, when he won the Fall Stars Game MVP, and that strong bat has carried over into 2026 as he earned a promotion straight from Single-A to Double-A. The 2013 19th-rounder picked up nine hits in his last three games of last week, five of which went for extra bases, to go with three steals. Rodriguez ranks second in the Southern League with a .438 on-base percentage, in part because he's walked (30) almost as often as he's struck out (32).
OF: Kane Kepley, South Bend Cubs (Double-A)
Cubs No. 6
.560/.656/.720, 5 G, 14-for-25, 1 HR, 1 2B, 11 RBI, 14 R, 7 BB, 3 K, 8 SB
Kepley had a reputation as a high-contact, speedy outfielder when the Cubs drafted him 56th overall last year, and he's showing why in short order. While it's usually not great when a hitter's OBP is higher than his slugging percentage, that's OK when he's slashing .313/.494/.443. The North Carolina product took his leadoff prowess to a new level on Thursday when collected his first professional four-hit game, complete with five runs and four stolen bases. And then he proceeded to end the week with another four-knock game, giving him 14 hits on the week, most among ranked prospects.
LHP: Kash Mayfield, Fort Wayne TinCaps (High-A)
Padres No. 4
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 0.20 WHIP
Mayfield has been money in his first season at High-A, with 35 strikeouts to 13 walks across 29 2/3 innings with a 1.52 ERA. The 2024 first-rounder's latest start was his best yet, with nine K's across five scoreless innings. With just one hit allowed, he lowered his average-against to .099, the lowest mark in the Minors (min. 20 IP). The two-time Gatorade Oklahoma Player of the Year winner has developed a devastating changeup, which has garnered a 49 percent whiff rate and 38 percent chase rate.
RHP: Karson Milbrandt, Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Double-A)
Marlins No. 9
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 11 K, 0.50 WHIP
Milbrandt has long had impressive stuff, although his control has held him back in the past. Now that he's pounding the zone more, with a walk rate that's down almost four percentage points, the results are following. The former Vanderbilt commit has a 1.24 ERA across 36 1/3 innings with 51 strikeouts and is coming off a career-best start in which he struck out 11 batters in six scoreless innings with three hits and no walks.
RP: Charlie Beilenson, Arkansas Travelers (Double-A)
Mariners No. 26
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 0.25 WHIP
Beilenson is making his second Prospect Team of the Week appearance this season, thanks to a pair of dominant two-inning relief outings. He struck out three batters both times, with his only run scoring because the designated runner in the 10th inning came around on a sacrifice fly. After pitching for Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic, the 6-foot right-hander is dominating the Texas League to the tune of a 0.90 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 20 innings.
