CHICAGO -- It was a big Saturday for Tristan Peters at Rate Field.

Prior to the contest against the Mets, the White Sox rookie center fielder received an impressive-looking ring from chairman Jerry Reinsdorf commissioned in honor of Peters hitting for the cycle on July 10 against the Athletics.

Then, Peters opened a two-run third with a solo home run to right off Christian Scott.

His eighth homer was different from the other seven, in that Mets right fielder Carson Benge appeared to make a running catch on the deep drive, but when he turned and hit the fence with the ball in his glove, the ball popped over the fence. It would have been short without Benge’s assistance.

Andrew Benintendi’s sacrifice fly with the bases loaded scored the second run in the frame.
