The Yankees on Tuesday claimed right-hander Dom Hamel off waivers from the Rangers and designated left-hander Jayvien Sandridge and infielder/outfielder Marco Luciano for assignment.

Hamel, 26, was a third-round pick by the Mets in the 2021 Draft out of Dallas Baptist University, and he ranked among MLB Pipeline's top 30 Mets prospects as recently as last year. He made his Major League debut in 2025 for the Mets, appearing in one game on Sept. 17 vs. San Diego and tossing one scoreless inning in relief, allowing three hits and hitting a batter. He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Syracuse, going 4-6 with one save, a 5.32 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings.

Over parts of five Minor League seasons in the Mets organization (2021-25), Hamel went 27-24 with one save and a 4.72 ERA in 111 games (89 starts). He was named the Mets’ Minor League “Pitcher of the Year” in 2022.

The Yankees mark the fourth MLB organization for the Chandler, Ariz., native over the past five months. Hamel was designated for assignment by the Mets on Sept. 18, claimed off waivers by the Orioles two days later, then was DFA'd by Baltimore on Sept. 25 before Texas claimed him on Sept. 27. Hamel was designated for assignment by Texas on Jan. 20.

Sandridge made one appearance for the Yankees after signing a Minor League deal last February, allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning. Luciano, a former top 100 overall prospect with San Francisco, was claimed off waivers from the Orioles last Thursday.
