A's place SS Marcus Semien on paternity list
The Oakland A's placed shortstop Marcus Semien on the paternity list and recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Lucas from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Semien has played every inning of the A's first 55 games and is batting .268 with five home runs and 24 RBI. He is tied for ninth in the American League in runs scored (35) and tied for 10th in multiple hit games (18).
Lucas is 0-0 with a 3.12 ERA in three games, including one start, in two stints with the A's. He was recalled most recently on May 18 and pitched twice, including his first Major League start in his last outing last Thursday against Seattle, a no decision in the A's 4-3 win (2.0 ip, 3 h, 2 r, 2 er, 3 bb, 1 so). The 27-year-old right-hander was optioned back to Nashville May 26 and tossed 2.0 scoreless innings on Monday against Oklahoma City (2 h, 3 so). Lucas is 0-0 with two saves, a 2.13 ERA and .167 opponents batting average in 10 relief appearances overall with the Sounds.
