Minnesota Twins Homestand Highlights: Friday, August 27-Wednesday, September 1

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins, who are 6-3 at home this month (including a trio of walk-off wins), are returning to Target Field for a unique six-day, five-game homestand from tonight (Friday, August 27) through Wednesday, September 1 – with a one-day detour to Detroit for a Monday, August 30 makeup contest against the Tigers. The Twins open the homestand with a three-game “Border Battle” weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers from tonight-Sunday, followed by a brief two-game set with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, August 31 and Wednesday, September 1. The series vs. the Cubs marks the North Siders’ first visit to Target Field since June 19-21, 2015.

Target Field is open to 100 percent capacity, without restrictions (_please note that per Centers for Disease Control and Minnesota Department of Health recommendations, fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status; masks are recommended outdoors for anyone over the age of 2 not fully vaccinated when social distancing cannot be maintained_).

TWINS VS. MILWAUKEE BREWERS: TONIGHT – SUNDAY, AUGUST 29 (3 GAMES)

Tonight (Friday, August 27) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (7:10 p.m.)

• Negro Leagues Celebration: As baseball celebrates the 101st anniversary of the establishment of the Negro Leagues, the Twins will honor the rich history of African American baseball and its impact on the social advancement of America.
• Giveaway – St. Paul Gophers Short Bill Hat: The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a special St. Paul Gophers short bill hat, commemorating Minnesota’s most notable Black baseball team. Founded in 1907 before the formal creation of the Negro Leagues, the Gophers were among a group of independent, barnstorming teams that had considerable impact on the desegregation of baseball.
• Ceremonial First Pitch: The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by St. Paul native and community leader Frank M. White, a renowned Negro League historian, author of “They Played for the Love of the Game Untold Stories of Black Baseball in Minnesota” and longtime coordinator of the Minnesota Twins RBI program.
• Videoboard Content: Before and during the game, the main Target Field videoboard will run graphics and videos highlighting the players and history of the Negro Leagues, including: Major League Baseball’s historic 2021 decision to designate the Negro Leagues as “Major League,” thus ensuring the statistics and records of the approximately 3,400 Negro League players from 1920-1948 are officially part of MLB’s history; the Twins’ continued commitment to recognizing the achievements and impact of Negro League players, including through Target Field artwork; and an inning-by-inning spotlight on Phil Reid, the 1907 St. Paul Gophers, Toni Stone, Tony Oliva, the Minneapolis Keystones, Frank M. White, William Binga, Walter Ball and Prince Honeycutt.
• From Tokyo to Minneapolis – Honoring the Minnesota Lynx Olympians: Prior to the game, the Twins will honor the five members of their Target Center neighbors, the Minnesota Lynx, who participated in the 2020 Summer Olympics: Natalie Achonwa and Bridget Carleton of Team Canada, along with Team USA’s gold medal-winning trio of Sylvia Fowles (fourth Olympic gold), Napheesa Collier (first Olympic gold) and Cheryl Reeve (second gold as an assistant coach).
• Friday Night Fireworks presented by Securian Financial: The sixth in a summer-long series of postgame Friday night fireworks, presented by Securian Financial, will light up the night sky above Target Field.
• DJ Ray Mills: The Twins’ DJ series continues with DJ Ray Mills performing inside Gate 34, beginning when gates open at 5:10 p.m. and at various points throughout the game. More information on Mills and the DJ series is available at twinsbaseball.com/djs.
• Summer DJ Series in Truly On Deck: In addition to DJ Ray Mills at Gate 34, a second DJ will be spinning music pregame in Truly On Deck (the former Bat & Barrel, open to all fans with a ticket), while fans 21-and-over can partake in free product samples of Truly Hard Seltzer.

Saturday, August 28 vs. Milwaukee Brewers presented by Pioneer Hi-Bred International (6:10 p.m.)
