BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Garrett Whitlock from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room, Boston optioned infielder Anthony Seigler to Triple-A Worcester.
Whitlock, 29, was placed on the Injured List on May 28 (retroactive to May 25) with left knee inflammation. He threw 1.0 inning in a scoreless rehab appearance with Worcester on June 6. The right-hander is 3-1 with a 3.20 ERA (7 ER/19.2 IP) and 25 strikeouts in 20 appearances this season for Boston. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 18th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 3.13 ERA (116 ER/333.1 IP) with 368 strikeouts in 185 career Major League games (23 starts), all with the Red Sox (2021-26).
Seigler, 26, was recalled from Worcester on June 3 and is 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in two games with Boston. The left-handed hitter has played in 30 games with Worcester this season, hitting .298 (31-for-104) with seven doubles, a triple, three home runs, 21 RBI, and an .896 OPS. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the first round (No. 23 overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Arizona native has hit .200 (13-for-65) in 36 career Major League games with the Milwaukee Brewers (2025) and Red Sox (2026).
