
BALTIMORE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:
- Nick Davila, RHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
- Cooper Criswell, RHP, placed on 15-day Injured List (right shoulder strain).
Davila (DAH-vee-LAH), 27, was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on May 25. He made 7 relief appearances with Seattle after being selected from Double-A Arkansas on May 2, tossing 7.1 innings and allowing 3 hits and 6 walks with 4 strikeouts. He made his Major League debut on May 3 vs. Kansas City where he threw 1.0 inning with 1 hit, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
In 12 games between Tacoma and Arkansas this season, Davila is 0-1 with a 2.77 ERA (4 ER, 13.0 IP), 2 walks, 12 strikeouts and 2 saves.
Davila was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Tigers on July 7, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on March 27, 2023. He has appeared in 6 minor league seasons in the Tigers (2021-22) and Mariners (2023-c) organizations, going a combined 18-30 with a 3.94 ERA (155 ER, 353.2 IP), 105 walks and 341 strikeouts in 126 games (42 starts). Davila was invited to Major League Spring Training this year and appeared in 7 Cactus League games.
The 6-foot-3 right-hander is a Hialeah, Florida native. He played one season at the University of South Florida after transferring from Hillsborough Community College (Tampa, FL).
Criswell, 29, has appeared in 26 games for the Mariners this season, going 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA (12 ER, 30.2 IP), 8 walks, 23 strikeouts and 1 save. He was acquired by Seattle from the New York Mets on January 23 in exchange for cash considerations and made 6 appearances during Spring Training.
Criswell has appeared in parts of 5 Major League seasons with the Angels (2021), Rays (2022-23), Red Sox (2024-25) and Mariners (2026), going a combined 10-8 with a 4.32 ERA (89 ER, 185.1 IP), 56 walks and 136 strikeouts over 71 career Major League appearances (21 starts).
The 6-foot-6 righty was born in Carrollton, GA and played one season at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC) before being drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
