Saving Pets at the Park, Phillies #GoGold, September 11 Tribute & More! Top things to know for Phillies-Rockies series (9/9-12)

Only three more homestands remain for the regular season! The Phillies return to Citizens Bank Park to host the Colorado Rockies for a four-game series on September 9-12. Here’s a look at some of the game highlights and promotions featured at the ballpark.

1) Help pets in need at the 14th annual Phillies Wives Save a Pet at the Park benefiting the Pennsylvania SPCA at the 7:05 p.m. game on #ThrowbackThursday, September 9.

• Adoptable dogs and cats from the PSPCA, signed “Mystery Balls” for sale and a pet donation of toys or treats and new or gently used blankets to support animals in need will be at the First Base Plaza. Plus, the Phillies Charities, Inc. 50/50 Drawing, presented by DraftKings, will benefit the PSPCA.

• Some more four-legged fun: be on the lookout for 350+ dogs and their human friends, who will be attending the sold-out Phillies Bark at the Park. Adoptable dogs from PAWS, PAWS information, and more will be located at the “break area” behind sections 210/211.

• Fans can meet members of the Tri-State Canine Response Team inside the Third Base Gate pregame, and Marge Inscho and dog Abigail will be honored on-stage in Ashburn Alley as Rothman Hometown Heroes in the third inning.

• As part of #TBT, Harold Carmichael, former Philadelphia Eagles player from 1971-1983, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” will be performed virtually on PhanaVision in the middle of the seventh inning by Katrina Leskanich from the popular female-fronted, rock band Katrina And The Waves.

• Plus, it’s Phillies Salute to Champions Night! The Phillies will honor local softball and baseball teams that have reached their state championships and above.

2) Phillies #GoGold at the fifth annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Night presented by Nemours Children’s Health on Friday, September 10, at the 7:05 p.m. game.

• All fans will receive a “Go Gold” Childhood Cancer Awareness Night print to hold in-game and take a stand in support of childhood cancer awareness.

• As part of the pregame #GoGold event, nine children receiving treatment at Nemours and other local hospitals will participate in a “Lineup of Courage” on-field and Phillies front office members will hold a large #GoGold yellow ribbon in centerfield.

• A special ceremonial first pitch will be made by a child receiving treatment at Nemours accompanied by Dr. Stephanie Guarino, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Specialist.

• Throughout the game, childhood cancer patients will take part in various activities around the ballpark, including honorary lineup announcer, PhanaVision DJ, public address announcer and more. In addition, that night’s national anthem will be performed by Ariana Baricelli, childhood cancer survivor.

• The Phillies Charities, Inc. 50/50 drawing, presented by DraftKings, will benefit The Nemours Foundation and a portion of the proceeds from the tickets purchased through the Theme Nights page will benefit childhood cancer research through the Nemours Foundation.

3) Saturday, September 11, marks two decades since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The Phillies will commemorate the brave men and women who lost their lives with Salute to Service presented by Toyota at the 6:05 p.m. game.

• The Air National Guard Band of the Northeast will perform the national anthem as an All-Service Honor Guard presents the colors in centerfield.

• A moment of silence will be observed to honor those whose lives were affected or lost on that tragic day.

• Wall of Famer Larry Bowa, who was the Phillies manager at the first game at Veterans Stadium following the September 11th tragedies (September 17, 2001), will be introduced on-field.

• Representatives from Wounded Warrior Project will throw the ceremonial first pitch and make a base change in the third inning, on behalf of Toyota.

• Subarna Malakar, U.S. Army veteran and board member of the National Association of Asian American Professionals Philadelphia Chapter (NAAAP Philadelphia), will throw out a ceremonial first pitch in honor of the Travis Manion Foundation.

• Sergeant Paul Bryant, Jr. of the Chester County Sheriff’s Canine Unit, first responder on September 11, 2001, will change a base in the sixth inning.

• Cpl. John Stanz, former U.S. Marine band member and Washington Township, NJ native, will perform “God Bless America” in the seventh inning. Stanz performed the national anthem at the reopening ceremony of New York Stock Exchange on September 17, 2001.

• Uniformed personnel will wear caps with a 9/11 side patch and there will be special line-up cards and base jewels.

• Fans who purchase tickets through the Theme Nights page will receive a coupon for an exclusive Phillies Salute to Service jersey.

4) Spend a fun-filled afternoon at the ballpark: fans 15 and over will receive a GIANT Picnic Blanket at GIANT Family Day on Sunday, September 12, at the 1:05 p.m. game.

• Before the game, fans can enjoy a GIANT Block Party on Citizens Bank Way from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. featuring a dunk tank, face painting, food sampling and more.

• On-field pregame, Lyn Montgomery, wife of the late Phillies Chairman David Montgomery, and Jean Ashburn, daughter of the late Phillies’ Hall of Famer and broadcaster Richie Ashburn, will present Tom Burgoyne, Phillie Phanatic, Entertainment Representative, with the Richie Ashburn & David Montgomery Special Achievement Award, presented annually to an employee who demonstrates the same loyalty, dedication and passion for baseball as the award’s namesakes.

• Janet Brennan, founder, president and executive director of Shamrock Reins, an equine therapy center for military vets, first responders, and their families, will be honored as the Rothman Hometown Hero in the third inning.

5) Bid for a cause! Signed items by Bryce Harper, Aaron Nola, J.T. Realmuto, and more, are available in the Phillies Charities, Inc. Auction benefiting the Pennsylvania SPCA. The auction is available via the MLB Ballpark App (iOS and Android devices only) and closes on Sunday, September 12.

6) Enjoy great deals at the New Era Phillies Team Store! Angry Birds Plush Animals will be buy one get one free, mix and match, until Sunday, September 12 (_while supplies last_).

Health and Safety Guidelines: In accordance with the City of Philadelphia, the Phillies have reimplemented indoor mask mandates, regardless of vaccination status, for indoor spaces including the Diamond Club (except while actively eating or drinking), New Era Phillies Team Store, ’47 Alley Store, elevators, and restrooms. Fans who are unvaccinated are strongly encouraged to continue wearing masks at all times when attending a game at Citizens Bank Park.

Pre-paid Parking: Fans driving to Citizens Bank Park are encouraged to order a pre-paid parking pass at Phillies.com. Tailgating lots (M & N) will open 5 hours prior to first pitch and non-tailgating lots will open 3 hours prior.

Mobile Ticketing: Access your tickets in the free MLB Ballpark app before coming to the game. Apple users are strongly encouraged to add their tickets to the Apple Wallet. If you purchased tickets with the same email address used to log in to the Ballpark app, your tickets will automatically appear in the “Tickets Tab.” Once at Citizens Bank Park, connect to “FreePhilliesWiFi” to allow for a better experience. Have your ticket ready on your phone before going through the metal detectors.

Broadcast: All games will be broadcast on NBCSP, as well as available via live stream for authenticated subscribers on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s MyTeams app. Games will also be available on 94 WIP and WTTM 1680 except for Sunday’s game, which will be broadcast on 1210 WPHT and WTTM 1680.

Gate Openings: All gates open 90 minutes prior to game time.
