Club Recalls C/1B Mickey Gasper from Triple-A Worcester
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed outfielder Roman Anthony on the 10-Day Injured List (retroactive to May 5) with a right wrist sprain. To fill his spot, Boston recalled catcher/first baseman Mickey Gasper from Triple-A Worcester.
Anthony, 21, exited Monday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers prior to the bottom of the second inning. The left-handed hitter has batted .229 (25-for-109) with five doubles, one triple, one home run, five RBI, 20 walks and 12 runs scored in 30 games this season. Selected by the Red Sox in the second round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has hit .273 (100-for-366) with 23 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 37 RBI, 60 walks, 60 runs scored and an .804 OPS in 101 career Major League games with the Red Sox (2025-26).
Gasper, 30, has played in 28 games for Worcester this season, hitting .296 (32-for-108) with six doubles, six home runs, 27 RBI, 25 walks and a .948 OPS while making 10 starts as the catcher, 10 at first base, and eight as the designated hitter. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 27th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the New Hampshire native has played in 58 career Major League games for the Red Sox (2024) and Minnesota Twins (2025).
