SAN DIEGO - Los Padres de San Diego han llegado a un acuerdo con el pitcher zurdo Ryan Weathers, su primera escogencia (séptima en total) en el draft de 2018. La información la dio el vicepresidente ejecutivo y gerente general A.J. Preller. Hasta la fecha, el club ha firmado a 26 de sus 41 selecciones, así como dos agentes libres.
Weathers, de 18 años de edad, tuvo 10-0 con 0.09 de efectividad y 148 ponches en 76 innings y se llevó el galardón Gatorade National Baseball High School Player of the Year. Después de firmar al zurdo MacKenzie Gore con el tercer pick de todo el draft de 2017, San Diego ahora tiene a los dos ganadores más recientes de ese premio en su sistema.
