River Jason Ryan...born Aug. 17, 1998 in Charlotte, North Carolina...played three seasons at the University of North Carolina Pembroke where he was a pitcher and infielder...drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 11th round in the 2021 MLB Draft.

2024

Began the season on the injured list before making rehab assignments with Rookie-level ACL Dodgers and Single-A Rancho Cucamonga before being assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City...combined to go 0-0 with a 2.22 ERA (6 ER/24.1 IP) in eight starts...Made his Major League debut on July 22 against SF, tossing 5.1 innings and giving up four hits, an unearned run and three walks while striking out two...In four starts with the Dodgers, went 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA (3 ER/20.1 IP) with 18 strikeouts while holding batters to a .208 average...Picked up his first Major League win on July 28 against HOU, going 5.2 innings and giving up two hits, one run and three walks while striking out a season-high eight batters...Sustained an elbow injury on Aug. 10 against PIT, underwent Tommy John surgery the following week...Finished the year as the number five prospect in the Dodgers system.

2023

Spent a majority of the season with Double-A Tulsa (24 G, 22 GS) before being assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sept. 12. With Double-A Tulsa, hurled a 1-6 record with a 3.33 ERA (36 ER/97.1 IP) while holding batters to a .221 average and 98 strikeouts. In two starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City, went 0-1 with a 10.29 ERA (eight ER/7.0 IP) with 12 strikeouts against only two walks. Named Texas League Pitcher of the Week with Double-A Tulsa on June 25, 2023 after tossing five scoreless and hitless innings, giving up one walks and striking out six … fired a 1-4 record on the road with a 2.79 ERA (16 ER/51.2 IP) with. Double-A Tulsa compared to 0-2 with a 3.94 ERA (20 ER/45.2 IP) at home.
