Lucas Spence
Began his college career at Black Hawk College, where he slashed .368/.442/.600 in two seasons while also getting regular work on the mound...continued to play both ways after transferring to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, where he won the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference batting title (.385) before signing with the Astros as a non-drafted free agent...The Astros were the only team that brought him in for a pre-draft workout...after going undrafted, signed with Houston and climbed the minors system quickly...signed by Astros scout Fredy Perez...Entering 2026, was ranked the No. 11 prospect in the Astros system according to Baseball America...also rated by BA as being the "Best Defensive Outfielder" in the Astros system...listed as one of the Astros breakout prospects heading into the 2026 season...has also been observed to make some of the best swing decisions in the Astros system, rarely straying from the strike zone while using the entire field...Attended his first Major League Spring Training with the Astros as a non-roster invitee...under a Minor League contract through the 2026 season.

2025

Spent the 2025 season climbing the system from Single-A to Double-A, compiling a .244 batting average (103-for-422) with 76 runs scored, 31 doubles, three triples, 10 homers, 55 RBI and 73 walks among three minor league levels...Batted .286 (22-for-77) through 23 games in Single-A Fayetteville with 16 runs, five doubles, one triple, four RBI and 18 walks with 11 stolen bases before being promoted to High-A Asheville on May 5...In 63 games for Asheville, where he took a majority of his at-bats for the 2025 season, hit .239 (56-for-234) with 38 runs scored, 18 doubles, two triples, six homers and 34 RBI...Promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi on Aug. 5, where he finished out the season, slashing .225/.370/.405 (25-for-111) in 30 games with 22 runs, eight doubles, four homers, 17 RBI and 25 walks.

2024

Signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2024 and assigned to Single-A Fayetteville...in 24 games, batted .200 (16x80) with a pair of triples and a homer with four RBI and 15 walks.
