Marlins Nike Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities

Marlins Nike RBI is an invitational sports-based youth program designed to promote interest in baseball, softball, academic achievement, and social responsibility in underserved areas of South Florida. The program offers free, instructional and competitive summer baseball & fastpitch softball for youth ages 13-18.

The Marlins supply uniforms, umpires and equipment to more than 500 children annually. All participants enjoy a fun and competitive summer league in addition to clinics hosted by Marlins players and alumni. Participants can also take part in our Marlins RBI Development Series, an on-field recognition ceremony during RBI Night, and have access to scholarship opportunities. Through Marlins Nike RBI, participants can apply for the Kim Ng RBI Legacy Scholarship ($2,500) and National RBI for RBI Scholarship Recipients ($20,000).

This past season, our senior baseball and softball division won the MLB RBI Southeast Regional Tournament in St. Petersburg, FL. Both teams went on to compete in the MLB RBI World Series at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, FL.

Marlins Nike RBI participants will have the opportunity to be selected for the Marlins Nike RBI All-Star team presented by Nike. The three RBI All-Star teams are sent to compete in the prestigious three-day tournament in Tampa, Florida. These three all-star teams include: a junior baseball division (ages 13-15), a senior baseball division (ages 16-18), and a softball division (ages 13-18). Our all-star teams will compete against other MLB Nike RBI Clubs in hopes of winning the Regional Title and advancing to the MLB Nike RBI World Series, held at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. The Miami Marlins Foundation, with the support of Nike, provides uniforms, transportation, boarding and meals for the tournament.

In 2022, the softball and senior baseball division won the South East Regional Title and went on to compete in the MLB Nike RBI World Series.
