Bergolla grounded a single through the left side, lined a ground-rule double to left and then laces a single to left. The 21-year-old added a stolen base, drove in two runs and scored twice.
3B: John Gil (ATL No. 10) -- 1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 BB

OF: Kale Fountain (SD No. 10) -- 2-for-2, HR, BB, SB, 3 R
Fountain has a huge power ceiling -- commiserate with his 6-foot-5 frame -- and showed that off at Spring Breakout for the Padres. Used as a corner infielder last year, he started in right field and crushed a 109.1 mph homer and a 110.3 mph single. The right-handed slugger also walked, stole a base and scored three times to complete a well-rounded day.
OF: Héctor Rodríguez (CIN No. 6) -- 2-for-3, HR, 4 RBI
Although known more for contact skills than power, Rodríguez got the scoring started for the Reds with one of the longest homers of Spring Breakout -- a 424-foot rocket on a changeup away. Largely a catcher during his time in the Minors, Trice split his time between left and first base in the showcase and was perfect in the field as well.
DH: Gavin Fien (WSH No. 5) -- 3-for-4, 2 2B, 5 RBI, BB, SB
Acquired in the offseason as part of the return for All-Star southpaw MacKenzie Gore, Fien made a good early impression for the Nats. An infielder by trade, he set the single-game Spring Breakout RBI record (five) as he reached base four times and stole a base while serving as DH. P: Chase Petty (CIN No. 9) – 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
A first-round pick by the Reds in 2021, Petty put together one of the best starts on Day 1 of Spring Breakout. The righty threw first-pitch strikes to nine of 13 batters and ran a 75 percent strike rate overall. He finished four frames with six punchouts and one hit allowed. Petty also reached back to hit 102.1 mph on his four-seamer.
P: Zach Root (LAD No. 13) -- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K
The 40th overall pick in the 2025 Draft went one over the minimum in his unofficial professional debut. Root struck out eight of the 10 hitters he faced across three near-perfect innings, tying the Spring Breakout single-game strikeout record. Three punchouts came via the southpaw’s curveball.
