Amid a flurry of roster moves on Friday, the Cardinals selected the contract of infielder Blaze Jordan, a former third-round Draft pick who has seen his fortunes skyrocket in the St. Louis system, from Triple-A Memphis.
Jordan, who has seen time at first and third base, is in the lineup on Friday against the Twins, batting eighth and playing third in his Major League debut.
In a series of corresponding moves, RHP Chris Roycroft was recalled from Memphis, while IF Nolan Gorman and RHP Hunter Dobbins were optioned to Memphis. IF Ramón Urías was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Jordan on the team's 40-man roster.
Jordan, 23, was acquired from Boston at last season's Trade Deadline and is the Cardinals' No. 25 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. Originally known as a viral smash for hitting a pair of 500-foot homers as a 13-year-old, Jordan was Boston's third-round pick in 2020 but struggled to break through at the upper levels of the Minor Leagues until the 2026 season. He has slashed .313/.373/.548 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in 57 games for Memphis.
Roycroft, 28, has a 5.98 ERA in 58 2/3 innings in the Major Leagues. He has pitched in five games for St. Louis in 2026, allowing five runs in 3 2/3 innings.
Gorman, 26, has struggled at the plate this season, slashing .194/.279/.318 with seven homers and 26 RBIs. He has struck out 74 times in 62 games.
Dobbins, 26, came to the Cardinals in the deal that sent Willson Contreras to the Red Sox. He has posted a 3.63 ERA in four games, two of them starts.
