Baseball runs deep in the Sabathia family, so it seemed fitting that the first professional homer for Carsten Sabathia III came with his dad, Hall-of-Famer CC Sabathia, sitting in the stands.
The long ball headlined the Brewers prospect's 3-for-4 day at the dish in Single-A Wilson’s 9-6 victory over Columbia on Sunday at Wilson Ballpark. The three-hit performance was his third multihit game in just five career starts.
Sabathia was locked in early against Fireflies pitching. In his first at-bat in the bottom of the second, the Brewers' 2026 20th-round selection lined a 1-0 fastball into center field for a base hit.
After flying out in the third, Sabathia fell behind in the count, 1-2, in the sixth, he got a hanging breaking ball from left-hander Darwin Rodriguez (Royals) and lined it just over the wall in left.
“It’s all smiles in the Sabathia family suite off to our right. CC extending his arms up into the air, super cool moment,” Warbirds broadcaster Ben Mihailovich said.

The 22-year-old grounded a 3-2 fastball into left for a single to cap his afternoon.
After hitting .283 with an .885 OPS and six homers in 37 games during his final college season at the University of Houston, Sabathia hasn’t skipped a beat since arriving in the Minor Leagues. In his first five games with Single-A Wilson, Sabathia has gone 9-for-20 with a 1.150 OPS and five RBIs.
