NEW YORK -- If the Mets are to change their fortunes in future seasons, they’ll need their farm system to begin churning out high-octane pitchers. may be a risky first-round pick, but he certainly fits that mold.

With the 27th selection in this year’s Draft, the Mets took Wiggins, who is recovering from Tommy John internal brace surgery. When healthy as a freshman at Arkansas, Wiggins proved capable of hitting triple digits with his fastball. That made him just as intriguing a Draft prospect as his older brother, Jaxon, a Top 100 prospect with the Cubs -- albeit one with plenty of uncertainty, considering the younger Wiggins hasn’t pitched competitively since his operation in the spring of 2025.
