Already DOMINATING MiLB leaderboards, Dodgers' Tibbs posts third four-hit game of the season

The first two weeks of the Minor League season were all James Tibbs III. The 2024 first-rounder homered seven times over his first eight games and punctuated the stretch with a three-homer outburst on April 4.

The calendar has turned to May, so what has Tibbs been up to recently? It turns out, more of the same.

The Dodgers’ No. 10 prospect continued his domination on the Minor League offensive leaderboards with four knocks in Triple-A Oklahoma City’s 12-5 victory over Salt Lake at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The performance marked the 25-year-old’s third four-hit game of the year, tying Comets teammate Ryan Fitzgerald for the Minor League lead.

Not only was it Tibbs' ninth multihit game of the season, but his third contest in the past eight in which he has recorded three or more knocks. The Georgia native is tied with Ethan Anderson (BAL No. 24) and recently called-up Braves infielder Jim Jarvis for the most in the Minors with six such games.

After taking the baseball world by storm at the start of the season, Tibbs has been the model of consistency since -- and his status on the MiLB leaderboards back that up. He is the only player with double-digit homers and a batting average north of .300 in the Minors. Here are his current rankings in a handful of other categories:

Hits: No. 3 (43)
Homers: Tied for No. 2 (11)
Extra-base hits: No. 1 (25)
Doubles: No. 2 (13)
Total bases: No. 1 (91)
Runs: Tied for No. 1 (34)

Tibbs is clearly having a breakout season. After spending time with three separate organizations last year, the Florida State product has found stability and success with the Dodgers organization. His 1.052 OPS is the best in the Pacific Coast League and second-highest in the system.

On Wednesday, Tibbs bolstered his numbers with two doubles, two singles and a stolen base. The highlight was a 107.6 mph laser in the fourth inning off Angels left-hander Ryan Harding that landed in the gap, rolled all the way to the wall in right-center field and plated one of his three runs on the afternoon.

One of the keys to Tibbs’ standout season has been his ability to produce hard contact. Through 35 contests, his 21.8 percent barrel rate is in the 98th percentile among Triple-A hitters, while his 58 percent hard-hit rate ranks in the 96th percentile.

The Dodgers' Minor League ranks are loaded with outfield prospects like Josue De Paula, Zyhir Hope and Eduardo Quintero. Through the first weeks of the 2026 season, Tibbs is proving he not only belongs with that highly touted group, but just might be ready to join the big league conversation.
