As the famous "Bull Durham" quote goes: Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains. In the case of the Dunedin Blue Jays, Single-A affiliate of the Toronto club, it rains a lot more than sometimes.
Dunedin contended with 24 weather delays, six cancellations and 10 postponements last season, but they are not letting any of it rain on their parade. Instead, they'll be proudly wearing the weather across their chests with brand new Rain Delay Jerseys, which will be debuted in a game on July 18.
The alternate uniforms are a meteorologist's dream, featuring a map of Florida and various colorful weather fronts moving along it. There's also a "live" radar and a lightning tracker. Checking the weather report before a game has never been so easy.
One can only hope that those fickle Florida warm fronts stay away from Dunedin on July 18 so that the team sees only sunny skies. We wouldn't want anything to delay the debut of the Rain Delay Jerseys.
