Catch of the year?! Minor Leaguer scales wall for must-see grab

Every once in a while, you see a catch so good that your first thought is immediately:

“Is that the catch of the year?”

Well, Luis Suisbel certainly put his best foot forward on Saturday night at Everett Memorial Stadium. Donning High-A Everett’s Washington State University-inspired uniforms, the Mariners prospect took off down the third-base line in the top of the fourth when Zander Darby (Giants) popped the ball up. It initially looked like it would reach the seats for a foul ball, but Suisbel perfectly timed both his leap and the act of sticking his right foot up against the fence. Despite a crowd around the ball, he came away with it for the out.

The play was so good that even left fielder Carlos Jimenez was shocked, tossing his left arm up into the air and giving his teammate a playful shove afterwards for his brilliance.

Ever since Suisbel joined the Mariners' organization out of Venezuela in 2019, he’s long been regarded as having an above-average throwing arm, one capable of making long throws from the hot corner over to first in time to nab baserunners.

But who needs to worry about throwing the ball when you can do that?
